Ride Report: CH Y Ride to Mt. Vernon 26 April 2008

A warm sunny Chapter Y Ride to Mt. Vernon spirited our folks looking forward to the upcoming summer riding season. Riders bought the Mt. Vernon Annual Pass as the best value, so we could return another day to examine this magnificent National historic site. Lunch was extremely tasty at the “period” restaurant on the Mt.

Ride Report: 24 April Pick-Up Ride to Sugarloaf Mountain

Ride Report: 24 April Pick-Up Ride to Sugarloaf Mountain:

...Gypsy and I scampered off for a beautiful day's ride through the scenic Virginia and Maryland countrysides. Once over the Potomac River bridge at Point of Rocks, we entered the awesome Maryland county of Montgomery and were treated to farm vistas seen usually in Wisconsin alternating with typical back-country scenes of Maryland, all wrapped in a matrix of smells making me glad I took a shower this morning--so I knew it wasn't

CH Y Ride to Antietam National Battlefield 2007

Chapter At Park Office

At the Antietam National Battlefield, you can easy imagine one of the bloodiest Civil War battles taking place as the Blue and the Grey advanced and retreated among the hills, valleys, dales, and rivers. The back country roads of Virginia, West Virginia, and Maryland make this a magnificent ride because of changing scenery alternating between farm and ranch land, the horse country, and the scenic riverside along the Shenandoah River. This is a special ride enjoyed by all. Start early in the morning.

The Polar Bear Eats
By Rick Baker

Happy New Year, One and All! On New Years Day, seven CH Y folk rode and drove to the Town N’ Country Restaurant north of Warrenton to join CH F for their Annual Polar Bear Brunch Ride. Riders and Co-riders from Chapters A and I helped bring in the New Year too. Soon, cold Wingers filled the entire backroom. And, in yet, another back room, a cruiser club packed in tightly for breakfast. Meanwhile, in the restaurant’s main dining room, the “usuals” regained their balance on the New Year. Soon, the ever-able staff of waitresses filled cups with hot coffee and the cooks wildly flipped pancakes and eggs! As we left, we could tell the waitresses earned their tips the first day of the year. Those on bikes had a smashingly good time in the wind and chill of the afternoon's ride home. The three of us CH Y folks, who rode together in a car, stayed warm and comfortable, even ordering “ice water” with our breakfast and coffee. Our appreciation to CH F for pulling this ride together!
